Who we are
Welcome to the last two generations of Forni Aversa.
Nonno has preserved our artisan tradition for over half a century.
Even though Grandfather is no longer with us, his grandson Attilio has mastered the tricks of the trade.
Originated in the Sorrento Peninsula, in a small village called Maiano, it is a type of brick called " Biscotto di Sorrento ".
A unique product dating back to the 15th century and famous for its use as the basis of the most prestigious and sought-after wood-fired ovens
in the world. Attilio Massa followed in his grandfather's footsteps keeping the name alive Forni Aversa , one of the oldest and only producers of Sorrento Biscuit currently in business.
In December 2015 he was awarded the title of " Master Craftsman ", an award given to him thanks to the quality of this
ancient product and wood-fired ovens made with the famous Maiano brick - "Biscotto di Sorrento".
We are now one of two operational bakeries and producers of Sorrento Biscuit in the world .
Just 60 years ago there were seven of us, providing jobs for dozens of families, making it one of the most productive sectors
of the Sorrento Peninsula. Today the tiles and oven bases (Biscotto di Sorrento) produced by the artisans of Forni Aversa are used to build wood-fired ovens for bakeries and pizzerias all over the world.
Our Sorrento bricks and biscuits can be found on every continent, in over 100 countries.
Every year our artisan oven generates thousands of bricks for the construction of wood-fired ovens, both in Italy and around the world.
